Since 2008, the number of Montreux Document participants has more than tripled: from an initial 17 states, the Montreux Document is now supported by 59 states and three international organisations.
However, there is a need to continue outreach in order to build further support for the Montreux Document across the different regions of the world and among international organisations. The Monteux Document Forum Secretariat, as well as the Co-Chairs of the MDF undertake a range of outreach activities to foster awareness of the Montreux Document and improve its recognition.
DCAF, in its role of MDF Secretariat, conducts policy research and analysis, organizes bilateral and multilateral outreach events and workshops, and provides briefings to national actors on the added value of the Montreux Document for more effective regulation.
The Montreux Document Forum aims to support prospective supporters in every step of the process as they study and examine the Montreux Document in view of becoming a participant. The Secretariat of the Document carries out awareness-raising and capacity building activities with multilateral and bilateral participants in Geneva or in the respective capital.
Governments and representatives of international organisations who are interested in learning more about how the Montreux Document can support the regulation of PMSCs are warmly invited to get in touch with the MDF Secretariat in order to discuss prospective areas of collaboration.
To address context-specific concerns on the legal content of the Montreux Document, and discuss local challenges in implementation of good practices, the Montreux Document Forum has organised regional outreach workshops in a myriad of different areas.
